meet your daddy

dear beautiful boy and precious soon-to-meet baby,

of all the great things that have happened to me
and the big decisions I've made in my life,
I can say without a doubt that I chose the right daddy for my children.
and because it will be years before you can really understand the man that you call "dad"
I'm going to tell you just how awesome he is.

he may not be the most expressive person on the planet
and he may not tell you every day that you mean the world to him,
but you do.
he has a quiet sort of stability about him.
he loves you with all he has
and you can completely depend on him.

he would do absolutely anything on earth if you asked him to.
now that doesn't mean you have to try him,
and it doesn't mean he always will,
because he's your parent and sometimes he has to say no.
but he is one tough cookie when he needs to be
and he can be a big softy too,
so if you need something you can ask him.

you absolutely light up his life.
you probably wouldn't even notice it
because its probably just his face as far as your concerned,
but his face lights up when he sees you,
or talks about you,
or even thinks about you.
as someone who knew daddy long before you came along
I just know that he thinks you rule.

he works really hard to give you everything you need.
he took on a new job and works long hours
so that I could stay at home and look after you each day.
you may not know it
but this is an incredible gift that he gave you and me.
he does everything he does for us
so that we can all be happy.

he gives the best cuddles.
I've always said it about him
so give him a try one day when you're feeling rubbish
or just want a lovely cuddle,
because they really are good.

he really is a fantastic daddy
and I wouldn't be half the mummy that I am without his help.
it might take you years to believe it,
but if you turn out even a little bit like him then you're doing okay.

so give him an extra special kiss and cuddle,
because he deserves it.

love from

mummy
