Dear Beautiful has always been about telling our story. I won't pretend for a second that our story is all that original, and it certainly isn't always beautiful. But it is ours, and I love looking for the beauty in our story and I love sharing it.

Children grow up so quickly, and memories fade so fast. "The days are long, but the years are short' they say, and this is something I've learned to be true very quickly since becoming a mother. This space started as somewhere to write letters to my beautiful little boy, and five years, two more children and a lot of adventures later, writing down memories for my children is still at the core of this blog. (You can find all of the children's letters grouped together on their pages; our beautiful boy, our beautiful girl, and our beautiful littlest lady.)

And so I photograph. And I video, And I write. And I hope that it give us a return ticket to all those special moments and beautiful memories. With all my heart, I hope that it helps us to remember all the beauty of our lives; that it becomes a legacy of love that the children can enjoy one day; that when we are old and grey we can look back on these days and smile with happy hearts.

And I hope it makes you smile too...!

  7. Hey,

I just came across your blog as a recommendation from Allie Roper, who is a reader of yours.

I just finished a little project you might be interested in... it's an illustrated interactive children's story about a magical snail named Snailbow who goes on a quest to find a new shell, but with the help of some friends he realises he's happy how he is.

    It's www.snailbow.com

Would be great to know what you (and your kids especially) think. And would be great if you could share it if you like it. It's totally non-commercial and just something I've been doing in the evenings for fun.

    Best,

    Jack.
