a marriage {see it snap it love it}

A lot of images could be used to signify marriage.
A bride and groom.
Wedding rings.
A marriage certificate even.
But for me,
the first thing I think of when I think of marriage
is holding hands.

Being married means that there is always someone there to hold your hand,
through thick and thin
and all those other things we vowed to stick together through.
Whatever life brings
we will be there
holding hands.

This photo is one of my favourites my wedding.
You can't see the smiling faces,
you can't see the rings,
you can't see the outfits
or hear the music
or the beautiful vows we said.
But I feel like it's all there in this photo,
in that moment where we held hands.
Whatever we said
we were promising to stay like that,
together forever.

I love seeing old married couples holding hands.
With all the history
and the lasting friendship they have shared.
The holding hands says more than a word or a kiss ever could.
It says we are together.
We are a team.
We are proud to be holding hands
because we are in love.

Next weeks theme is
'Finding Beauty in the Ordinary'.

  1. Lovely photos and a lovely way of thinking of a wedding! Love how you have photographed you now and compared it to a photo of you then. Sorry i was earl, I just seem to have more posts than time at the moment. x

    1. Thanks. It's funny the moments and imagery that stand out years later. Hand holding was a special part of my wedding day and is of my marriage too. X

  2. Gorgeous photo's I was going to join in this week but just couldn't think of a new piccy and didn't want to cheat with a wedding photo. Hopefully next week I will think of something xxxx

    1. Ahhh, well hopefully we'll see you for 'finding beauty in the ordinary' then. x

  3. It is the little things that get over looked that often mean the most. Gorgeous pictures as always, Lucy xxx

  4. Lovely photos and words. Old couples holding hands always make my heart melt! Hope we are both one of those old people in a few (many, many) years x

    1. A part of me is so looking forward to being one of those old people. I think that to get to live a long life with the person you love is a real blessing. X

  5. Lovely, it seems to usually be teenagers holding hands... I guess after the years of carrying baby bags and buggys maybe it gets forgotton. I hope not.

    1. Hehe. Maybe that's why I like it so much. It gives me that goosebumpy feeling like you get when you're a teenager in love. x

  6. I agree, old couples holding hands, or sharing laughter, or showing care for each other, make me smile

    1. It's something about them still being happy together after all that time I think, so cute. x
