one day: the weekend edition {july}

Holidaying with children
means different kinds of holidays to before.
It means "staycationing" instead of far off climes.
It means low key evenings instead fancy nights out.
It means room for travel cots instead of big sumptuous beds.
But it also means big smiles,
heaps of fun,
copious laughter
and time spent togther.
And I know I wouldn't trade those for anything.

I've made a slight change to the normal 'one day' videos format.
It's a weekend edition.
Apologies that its a whopping seven minutes long,
but there was just too much to include.

We spent a lovely sunshiny weekend at Shorefield Holidays
with our lovely friends.
We stayed in a luxury caravan
which was perfect for what we needed as a family;
comfy beds, a well equipped kitchen, large lounge area
and some outdoor furniture
(albeit a bath would have been nice, but we made do with baby bathing in the sink!)

On site there was an outdoor swimming pool (perfect in the sunshine),
an indoor pool (perfect for the younger bubbas),
a brilliant pirate ship play area (perfect for big kids and little ones),
a spa (perfect for mummies to get some quality "me time"),
but best of all there was the great outdoors,
there was peace and quiet,
there were four days of glorious sunshine,
and there were friendships deepened and traditions started.

We visited Paultons Park, home of Peppa Pig World
and had great fun enjoying the rides and eating ice-cream.
We rode on rides without parents for the first time
and we loved every second.
We went to the beach to build sandcastles
and to dip our toes in the sea.
We stayed up late drinking Pimms in the warm summer evenings
and discovered that someone does an amazing pig impression,
while someone else does a terrible cow one.

And if the post-holidays blues we are suffering from are anything to go by,
then it seems we would have been happy to stay a lot longer.

We had an amazing time.
We made amazing memories.

And I've made seven minutes of video
to show you what a lovely time we had.

Check out the post on Mummy Daddy Me if you haven't already

Thank-you to Shorefield for our complimentary stay, dinner and spa treatments.
Thank-you to Paulton's Park for our complimentary tickets for a great day out.
Thank-you to Katie and family for having us along for the ride.
Same time next year....?

  1. What a lovely lovely video, my favourite bits are of the beach (before the seagull!), Mads and BB cuddling at the end and the little shot of Mads eating her dinner- she looks so cheeky!
We had such a great time and it totally sums up our weekend I think! Roll on September xx

    1. Those are some of my favourite bits too. I love her face covered in dinner and you're right she looks so cheeky. I like the bit where she's making a sandcastle at the play area too, and the little man swinging at the top of the slide, and them running around chasing each other at the beginning. In fact, I love most of it. x

    1. Blogging has given us some great friendships. We're very lucky.
And you and the boys would love Peppa Pig World. It was really good. I'd say Mads and BB were at the the minimum age really so it might be between for you once Jenson is a bit bigger and can really enjoy everything. x

I love it when BB is swinging at the top of the slide, and when Mads is eating her dinner. I can't believe how much LL and BG have changed since Britmums.

    1. Awww, a few people have said they make them feel really emotional. I thought it was just me!!!
And I use these videos as bribery to get the little guy to do all sorts of things. Not sure why he loves them so much, but he'll do nearly anything to get to watch. x

  23. Getting bathed in the sink is one of the best parts of being a very young child. Really nice video -- great way to tell a story of the stay. It was nice to run into you at Shorefield as well. Ours was a very short stay but with fantastic weather, lots of cycling and trips to the beach. xx

    1. I agree. I have photos of me being bathed in the sink as a baby, so it made me smile to give her a sink bath. It was great to see you, and I'm glad you had a lovely time too, we were so so lucky with the weather. x
