a little place to call their own

My older two are absolutely at the roleplaying age. Practically all of their play revolves around them pretending to be something or someone else, and a lot of the time that means acting out things they see. Of course with a new baby in the house, good old 'mummies and daddies' gets played a lot, and I always find it hilarious to watch them pretending to be me and their daddy... nothing makes you quite so aware of your own quirks as when a child is play acting at being you! Apparently Daddy shouts quite a lot, and Mummy is always holding the baby!

cooking up a feast

My children absolutely love roleplaying games together. It's one of the nicest things to come out of having two children, is that as my littlest has got bigger, it has really sparked both of their imaginations when it comes to play. They really do like to play things together, and while some toys and games don't always make that so easy, playing at a play kitchen is one of the best. They will work happily alongside one another for hours cooking me up a feast, doing the washing up and bringing me copious 'cuppa-teas' and pieces of cake while I wait.

playing house

It has always amazed me,
that despite us always giving the children access to all sorts of different toys,
our son has generally gravitated towards animals and cars,
while our little girl seems desperate to care for everything in sight.
Who knows if it's nature or nurture
(I'm inclined to think it's nature but who knows)
but my little lady is currently obsessed with playing with small characters;
putting them to bed, helping them sit up, giving them lots of cuddles.

picnics with friends

You can't beat a teddy bears picnic
for a simple and fun way to spend a summers afternoon.
It always amazes me how providing the same lunch as normal,
but on a picnic blanket surrounded by teddies
makes it all so much more exciting.

My two would happily have lounged on the blanket,
cuddling their bears,
while grazing on little snacks
for the whole day if they could.
And I loved it too.
Fresh air, a warm day, a cooling breeze
and happy playful children,
what's not to love?

{little easter moments} easter baskets

We had such a beautiful Easter weekend.
We all enjoyed some much needed quiet time together,
and the children enjoyed the little Easter activities we planned for them.

building bears

Last spring we were lucky enough to be invited to review the Build-A-Bear experience
and we thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing and raved about it to anyone who would listen.
Our beautiful boy was at an age where he was just big enough to understand some of the excitement
but his little sister was still a baby, who smiled the whole time but had no idea what was going on.
So when Build-A-Bear Workshop offered us a chance to review for them again,
I was absolutely thrilled to accept,
knowing that they would both get so much more out of it this time around.

making believe

In the last few months,
make believe has become a much bigger part of play in this house.
It's like my little man's imagination exploded overnight,
and suddenly all those books we'd been reading him
started coming to life.

choo choo

I've confessed our love for wooden toys before now,
we have a house full of them.
All the lovely classic wooden toys you can think of,
we probably have them,
and then some besides.
I can't seem to resist them.
But one thing which had eluded our collection
was a proper wooden train set.

bath time sail boats

We love wooden toys around here.
Really love them.
They are classic and they stand the test of time
and they just generally look lovelier.
We have a home absolutely full of them.
Except when it comes to bath time,
where it seems plastic reigns
. . . until now!

sixteen months new

You seemed to be right on the cusp of being a real little girl, but not quite.

7

fifteen months new

You were growing up so fast and it was so bittersweet.

2

forgotten

I'm a sentimental old fool.
I'll put my hands up and admit to it right now.
I get very attached to anything that I feel has some sort of special story
or has been precious in any way shape or form.
I have kept all sorts of things associated with my babies,
I have memory boxes, special shelves and pretty bags
full to the brim with things that I treasure because it reminds me of my babies in some way.

winnie-the-pooh toys review

We were sent these two Winnie-the-Pooh toys to review
and have been really enjoying playing with them and trying them out.

1

thirty weeks new

All of a sudden you were really starting to get active.

3

making new friends

A few weeks ago we were given the opportunity
to test out the whole Build-A-Bear experience.
To say we were blown away
would be a complete understatement.
In a word;
it was fantastic.

summer and dash

There is nothing quite like having a special friend to hang around with.
That is the thing I love most about having two children;
yes, its double the trouble,
and double the smiles
and double the laughter
and double the love.
But the best thing of all,
is that they have each other.
A special friend for life.

taggy love

The beautiful girl has a new love in her life.
Her 'Love'.

bobbie and friends toy review

We love multi-sensory toys.
Any toy that can be seen, touched and heard
is well loved by the big and small kids in this house.

little tikes 3-in-1 trike review

The beautiful boy is one happy chappy.
He was sent a brilliant new 3-in-1 trike by Little Tikes to review
and despite the less than outdoorsy weather we've had lately,
he's really been enjoying taking it out for a spin.

tinti bath toys review

I discovered the lovely online toy store Toys Naturally only recently,
and as someone who is quite literally obsessed with traditional wooden toys,
I was really impressed with their selection.
So I was thrilled when they said they'd like to send us some bath toys for the beautiful boy
and a little present for Splodge too.
