the difference a year makes

A lot can change in a year.
And the beauty of photos is that they help us really see
just how much things have changed.

This time last year we were still a three
and we went out for the day
to a beautiful gardens near us.
We were on the cusp of a big change
but were enjoying our days more
knowing that they were numbered.

This past year has absolutely flown by
but it's seen an enormous amount of change.
We've seen our beautiful boy grown and mature,
develop and learn,
become more clever and more kind by the day.
We've seen a bump turn into a beautiful girl,
who has also grown and changed so much,
and who is well and truly part of our gang.

Sometimes it takes recreating an old photo
to make you realise just how much everything has changed.
Last year Daddy was hid behind the gate holding up the little guy
so that he could peer through the gap.
This year, he stood. All by himself.
And Mummy hid behind the gate holding up his sister.

The difference a year makes . . .

  1. Oh I love this post Lucy. I cannot believe how much of a difference a year makes. I think it is really lovely to recreate photos and see how much has changed. Maybe you should make it a yearly thing to go to this door and take a photo? x

    1. Thanks lovely, I think I'm going to start recreating a few more. It's so nice to have them to compare. And I definitely think we'll make this a yearly thing now, its scary to think how different next years will look. x

  2. Love this post! Wonderful to have a photo in the same place with two little faces poking through. :) I am imagining a photo where they are much taller and peeping through. :) x

    1. It is a lovely gate. In a lovely garden too. We'll definitely visit each summer, so I think I'll aim for a yearly photo. x
