{the ordinary moments} my boys

This epitomises an ordinary moment.
They didn't even know they were being photographed.
And I didn't know I was photographing them.

Okay, so I did have the camera pointed at them,
but I was just checking my light and my camera settings
ready to get a different photo.
And then I looked through the memory card when I got home
and I found this . . .

A completely accidental photo
of an utterly beautiful and tender moment
between my two best boys.

  1. I love photos where the subjects don't know they're been photographed but to not even know you're taking it is pretty special! It's a lovely photo too, such a tender moment.

    1. Me too, candid photography is my absolute favourite. I am seriously, so amazed and pleased that I snapped this photo without knowing it. It captures them so well. x

  4. I have a few photos like this that I love too. I only wish someone would take photos of me when I wasn't expecting instead of self timer shots that I try so hard to make look natural. I love that they have each other's hands, it's very tender.

    1. So true isn't it? I sometimes think I could do with a photographer following me around just catching those little moments. The hand holding just melted me, and the way that my husband is leaning in to smell his air. x

  6. Oh Lucy I think this might be one of my favourite ever photos that you have taken. It is beautiful and you can just see the love in it. I love that it was accidentally taken. And I agree with Caroline, I would love someone to follow me round and take photos of me in the moment unaware, Mr E is NOT good at that, I have to tell him to pick up the camera and take one for me and as such the photos are posed and not natural. x

    1. Thanks lovely. And the funniest thing is that I normally bin my test shots as I go, but I didn't on this occasion because we were against the clock with the weather. Seems like it's fate that I didn't. x
