the danceathon

I have danced since I was a teeny little dot. I absolutely love it. I'll dance in the kitchen, in a dance class, in the shower, on the street, in the car... I'm not fussy. But if the groove takes me, I dance. I teach dance, both my children dance, dancing is such a big part of what makes me me.

So a chance to raise money for an amazing cause.... and do a ton of dancing? It was always going to be right up my street. On March 8th, I will be heading to Wembley as part of Team Honk to dance my little socks off for six whole hours to raise money for Comic Relief for all the amazing work that they do. I am unbelievably excited about this!!! It won't be a walk in the park, even with a bit of dance experience, six hours of any kind of physical exercise is going to be tough going, but I'm so excited to be helping to make a difference.

You don't need me to tell you all the fantastic things that Comic Relief do, they help so many people across Africa and here in the UK. They are changing, helping and saving lives all the time, and by donating you can help their work.

Betfair have kindly kickstarted my fundraising by donating £150 to My Giving Page, and I am unspeakably grateful for that. £100 enables a young person in Uganda to set up a farming business and work their way out of poverty. £50 could pay for a Kenyan girl living in a slum to do an apprenticeship and gain vital skills to help set her up in life.

As much as I always hate asking people for money, I'm going to ask you guys too... to sponsor me for six hours of sweat and hard work as I dance my butt off, and help really change the lives of people who need it most.

And this is going to be win-win for you bloggers, because if you sponsor me as little as £5, as a big thank-you from me, you will also automatically get to be a Dear Beautiful sponsor for a month; with an advert in my sidebar and weekly mentions on Twitter and Facebook. £10 gets you two months, £15 gets you three months... you get the idea. Just ping me an email at when you've given your sponsorship on My Giving Page, and I'll get you all set up.

And think about coming and getting your groove on too...! You can find all the details here and we'd love to have you on Team Honk. I am so excited for a day of dancing and laughing with blog friends, and having an excuse to make myself a tutu to wear out in public.

  1. What an amazing cause hunny. That's amazing. Six hours of dancing sounds like hard work and heaven. We are huge dancers in this family too. Love this. Love your necklace too. Hahaha you are too cute.

  2. After seeing that view of you at the MADS in 2013 (?) it seems only right that you are there dancing. Representing the Disney Princesses (I'm sure that's what I said at the time).
Such a great thing for you to offer bloggers too. Fab idea xx

  3. Good luck lovely! You look like a dancer, love your necklace. I can't dance at all, two left feet doesn't even sum it up! x

  4. *shakes it like a polaroid picture* Oh Lucy I can't wait it'll be such fun!
