me and mine in 2015

It seems to crazy to me that two years ago I set myself the new years resolution to take a monthly family photo during 2013, and that here we are twenty-four photos later, about to embark on a third year of documenting our family each month with a family portrait.

I can put my hand on my heart and say that it is the best little challenge I have ever set myself, and I really don't think I could give it up now even if I wanted to. There is something so addictive about collecting photos of your family. Seeing how you each changed over time, marking those everyday subtleties of what makes you a family. Taking photos for Me and Mine isn't always easy; remotes don't work, people move and they end up out of focus, husbands complain, children get bored, and sometimes the weather just won't play along... but they are always, ALWAY worth that effort when you have yet another family photo to look back on.

One of the lovely things about Me and Mine is the lovely community that we have built. So many families taking the time each and every month to photograph themselves together, and that makes me so incredibly proud. This year we are adding a Me and Mine Facebook community too, so that we can hopefully inspire each other and so that we can remind you when the end of the month link up is coming in time for you to get that snap. And if you aren't a blogger, and you've always wanted to take part, then now you can... take those photos and share them on our wall, we'll be sharing some favourites over the month too. So come across, give us a like and get involved.

The little Me and Mine team line up is having a little change about this year, with some of your original cohosts staying on and some other lovely cohost joining us. Here is your 2015 Me and Mine team, we hope you'll join us.

Alex is one of the lovely ladies joining the Me and Mine team this year, with her gorgeous little family. The family line up over at Bump to Baby is due a big change later this year, when their little boy Ethan becomes a big brother and they get a new addition. It's going to be so exciting to see her family quite literally grow this year.

"I’m so excited to be a part of the Me and Mine team this year and was so excited and honoured when Lucy asked me to join. I absolutely love this link up and the idea behind it - getting the WHOLE family in front of the camera. Because as parents we are far too often the ones behind the camera snapping away at our family aren't we?! I am so looking forward to getting creative with our pictures and hopefully snapping some amazing family shots that we can look back on forever. And what’s even more exciting is that this year our family will be growing! Our second baby is due in June, so it will be just amazing to capture us go from a three to a four!" ~ Alex

Fritha is another new addition to the team this year. Her blog Tigerlilly Quinn is full of family and lifestyle posts and Me and Mine is going to fit in like it was meant to be there. Expect some beautiful, colourful and oh-so-cool family snaps from her.

"I love taking snaps of my family and whilst there are tons of pictures of Wilf on his own or with either Tom or myself there are only about 5 pictures of us a family over the past three years. I wanted to become part of Me and Mine so that I could ensure that there was at least one photo of us a month. Photos of our little family are so important to me and I feel sad that I only own one photo of my own parents and siblings all together! I also want to be a bit more relaxed about photo’s I’m in, it doesn’t matter that I don’t feel I look my best as my family don’t care or notice those silly little things, it matters that we’ve recorded our life together and can look back on how much fun we had!" ~ Fritha

Jenny is the third and final new addition to the team. Jenny embraced Me and Mine as a participant during 2014 and we're so excited to have her on the team with us now. Her and her gorgeous family will be sharing their family photos each month over on Let's Talk Mommy.

"It is such an honor to be a part of such an amazing family portrait project like Me & Mine. I am so excited to have joined the team for 2015! It was one of the first projects I participated in and I am so glad I did. It not only has motivated me to make sure to capture us all together along our many adventures throughout the year but it has made me get creative with my photography and family together. I am looking forward to getting my family more involved and having fun each month with our family portraits this year. The kids are older now so I look forward to being able let them choose where we should take them and what we should do in them!!! It’s a great project to get everyone involved instead of dreading the camera." ~ Jenny

Katie shouldn't be a new face to any of you, as one of the original cohosts over on Mummy Daddy Me. Katie, Mr E and their gorgeous girls always give us something beautiful each month, and I know they won't disappoint this year.

"Taking a family photo each month is one of the best things that I have done via my blog. I know that regardless of blogging I would have taken millions of photos of my girls as I have always been obsessed with photography, but I know for a fact that I would not have hardly any photos of all four of us if I didn't join in with Me and Mine. Although we generally always leave it till the last minute, although my husband and I moan almost every month about going out and taking some, and although people give us funny looks when I run back and forth to the tripod to set the self timer, I love the fact we have got some amazing photos of this time where our family is growing and changing more than ever." ~ Katie

Lucy is another of the original team who is back for another lap around the sun, taking family snaps along the way. Capture by Lucy is full of all things gorgeous, and her family portraits each month always fill that description too.

"The Me and Mine Project has brought so many families together. It may sound terribly corny but it’s true. Before we started this project I could count the number of photos of the four of us on one hand. We had a few, the big moments, the one in hospital, birthdays and at Christmas but everyday memories seemed to pass us by. And often this was because, when we are just the four of us, there’s no one to take the photo!
But these photos of the four of us are so precious because they chart the visual history of us. And that’s worth setting up make shift tripods, hauling the real tripod with us on country walks and asking strangers to take our photo. And then there’s the magic selfie. They may not always be the best quality, the best composition but they are the best at capturing an exact moment!" ~ Lucy

So that's us, we can't wait to see your family photos on Saturday for the first Me and Mine of 2015.

    1. I know... it makes me a bit emotional too, reading how much family portraits matter to people and how much they love this project for making them take more of them. It's definitely a fab team, I'm so excited to see what we all come up with. x

  7. Aww it's a fantastic team and I'm so looking forward to another year's worth of lovely family pictures - and in my case the not so lovely slightly wonky ones along the way that I treasure anyway!

    1. They are all lovely, wonky or not. And I'm a bit worried mine are out of focus this month. Haven't had the guts to have a proper look at them because I'll be heartbroken if they are. x

  8. I've always enjoyed seeing people's me and mine posts so lovely!! My husband is rather camera shy but I really should try to get him on board it's such a lovely idea for a project! Must be so nice to look back at all of the pics you've done! X

    1. It's often the husbands who are a bit resistant I think. But if you can convince him it'll be worth it. Now we have a little collection of them my husband can see the benefit in it. x

  9. This is a great idea as it kinda forces you to take a family photo each month - I can literally count on one hand how many we have right now. Really must start joining in #SWM

    1. Thats exactly it, I took a photo of us the day my daughter was born and didn't take another for three months... and I was so cross at myself for all the family snaps we had missed and all the changes that had happened that I hadn't captured. Doing this little project MAKES us take them, and I'm so glad that we do. x

  10. This is such a wonderful idea to do. We have very few photos of the 4 of us together, but we have just had a professional family shoot done and they look amazing. Our son is turning 13 this year and its getting harder and harder to take a photograph of him !

    1. So many people seem to say that; they have loads of photos of the kids but hardly any of them all together. And the all together ones are the most priceless I think. x

  12. I am so absolutely definitely going to try and join in this year - I wanted to last year but I'm a cameraphobe and only let our family photographer shoot me once a year. Now I can't help worry my boys will have no idea what I looked like as they were growing up. #Sharewithme

    1. It felt like mega dedication in the beginning, but it's just kind of be one habit now. Family photos just get out of date so fast don't they? That's why I just keep taking more. x

  17. Ah what a lovely team of bloggers. I am really going to try and join in this year; we hardly take any photo's as a family. At my sisters wedding in Portugal there isn't a single photo of the three of us because my partner was the photographer and I am still so annoyed about it! I actually have the perfect photo of us to add this week that was taken on the 1st January so hopefully I'll remember to join in! I'm sure it'll usually be at the end of the month in future! xx

    1. Ahhh that's such a shame you didn't manage a photo in Portugal. It really quickly becomes a habit to take family snaps when you're taking part in Me and Mine, so hopefully we can help you to collect a few more. x

  19. I am joining in with this! I am trying really hard at the moment to get better photos and to teach myself (with help of great blog posts!) to learn how to get a good photo. The challenge of a monthly family photo will be fun, I never get enough family photos.
