siblings {april}

The thing that I love most about watching my two together,
is how they bring out each other's adventurous streak.
They just love a good explore side-by-side.

It amazes me how much they seem to communicate with one another
without using words,
as they investigate the world around them.
Side way glances, the occasional brush of arms,
cheeky smiles and laughs of encouragement
seem to be all they need when they are together.

She will look at him for approval
with eyes full of nothing but hero worship,
and he will look out for her,
always making sure she's close by
and not doing anything she shouldn't be.

It's thrilling to think of the adventures they'll share as they grow up,
and how their childhood memories
will be so tightly tied to one another.

Increasingly, as they play together more and more,
I see the beginnings of a gang of two
which has nothing whatsoever to do with me.
There will be adventures in their futures that not only will I not be a part of,
but that I won't even know about.
Secret moments that just the two of them will share.

And funnily enough, that excites me.
I love that they will have that,
and that they'll get to learn about the world hand in hand.

Siblings is all about watching the relationship between your children,
and recording it with a photo.
There is something so amazing about the story you can read
when you see siblings together in a photo,
and how the tiny details of their relationship work.
I absolutely love looking at all the photos each month
and I hope that you all do too.
If you've got a photo of your children together,
then why not link up with us.
It's never too late and we'd love to have you.

This month the cohost I'm sending you to visit is Lauren.
Lauren has to gorgeous sons with the cheekiest little grins you've ever seen,
and I always look forward to seeing the photos she has to share.

dear beautiful

  4. How lovely. It looks like they had a great time in the mud together! There is a much larger age gap between my two, however, I can relate to a lot of your words, particularly as my daughter gets older.

    1. They had the loveliest time splashing and getting dirty together, it was so sweet. And I think that the sibling bond is kind of amazing whatever their age gap; they just kind of "get" each other. x

  19. That first photo is so lovely, their little coats are so bright and happy and obviously 'matching but not matching' which as you know I am a fan of. I think since BG is walking they don't seem very different in age at all. x

    1. You've got to love a bit of matchy-but-not-matchy! And their age gap definitely seems smaller these days, since she's been up and walking I think. I get asked so often if they're twins now, and when I say they aren't people look at me like I'm totally insane. x

  23. The older they get the closer in age they seem to be; they're definitely a little team out to discover the world and they sound so very sweet and caring together. And they have a fabulous set of raincoats to set them on their way - I wish they did the ice lolly coat in my size!!

  30. I am so glad to have found this link - it is such a great idea and, up to this point, I haven't really consciously looked for moments of sibling bonding for photo purposes but considering the fact that the photos I *do* take of them together are some of my favourites it makes so much sense! Your photos are beautiful and I totally agree about letting them get on with it - the creation of their little gang of two - I am one of two as well and I'm so happy to have a sibling I love.
