siblings {january}

Before I even had a second baby
I was fantasising about what it would be like
to see my children interact with one another.
I couldn't wait for the moment I got to introduce my beautiful boy
to his younger sister,
and her to him.
And from that moment on their relationship has continued to amaze and surprise me.

I've been lucky and they've always been really happy in one another's company,
from general interest in the early days,
to saving their best smiles for each other,
to where we are now,
which has to be the best stage ever.
They are really starting to properly play together now
and to entertain one another with the things they do.
They constantly make each other giggle hysterically
and will chase each other around squealing,
until they fall into a crumpled laughing heap.

There are of course moments when she takes the toys he's playing with
and gets a little too into his space.
Just like there are times when he doesn't want to chase her anymore
and she doesn't want to share mummy cuddles.
I think the nature of a sibling relationship
is that there is always a really fine line,
between "oh my goodness, you're fantastic"
and "oh my goodness, you're driving me mad"
but that fine line is part of it's beauty.
And on the most part
watching these two kiddos together is a daily
in fact make that hourly, joy.

So, here we are, the very first Siblings post.
The ten of us hosting this linky are so excited
to be sharing our Siblings with you
and to be spending the year focusing on capturing our children together.
We'll be sending you around in a circle to visit the other hosts,
just keep clicking around all the posts and you'll end up back where you started,
having seen a whole lot of sibling loveliness along the way.

This month I'm sending you to see Annie.
Annie hardly needs an introduction as the famous (or should that be infamous) Mammasaurus,
she takes beautiful photos and has an absolute way with words,
so she is sure to have a treat for you.

And we'd love you to link up a photo of your children together.
You only need to add your link to the linky box once
and it'll appear on everyone's blogs.
We hope you'll join us,
it'll be so great to see that sibling relationship
recorded each month over a whole year.

dear beautiful

    1. They are cheeky, and pretty cute with it. And there is no magic formula with the camera I'm afraid, it's just never very far away from me so I get a lot of practise. x

  2. That top photo made me smile and then chuckle! It's fab when they start playing together. There's 13 months between Kitty and Ozzy and they are as thick as thieves now, always off playing, plotting sleepovers (which always include me making them midnight feasts!) and whispering 'Don't tell mummy'. It's only going to get even better Lucy!

Loving this linky already - thanks so much for asking me to be a part of it x

    1. Ahhh, I just know they are going to get closer and I can't wait to see what they get up to. I always remember having great adventures with my brother growing up, I just hope they get to have the same.
And I'm loving it too. It's made me feel all warm and fuzzy this morning. x

  4. Aww they're so sweet together (and also - the beautiful girl has bunches!!). I love your descriptions of them chasing each other around - I think we're just on the cusp of that stage as Elma gets more and more mobile, and it's going to be amazing and exhausting in equal parts I suspect!

    1. It's amazing fun now they really play and chase. They wear each other out and it's hilarious to watch. Such a lovely (if rather noisy) stage.
And I'm in love with the bunches!!! Too cute. x

  9. Looking more and more alike. Loving the little bunches, how cute?!! They look like they have a really lovely relationship, lovely to see brothers being sweet to younger siblings when the stereotype would have us believe this might not be the case.

    1. They are more alike now, definitely. And I am LOVING the bunches.
It's so true, I often think that big brothers can get a bit of a bad reputation for not being interested or not being nice, but he's always been such a lovely big brother. x
