donut days {52 adventures}

This was a real, true, bonafide, genuine adventure. We got in the car, drove to a town we've never visited before, and discovered a little gem. Leigh-On-Sea really isn't terribly far away from us, but yet I've never, in all my years of living in Essex, actually been to visit. Well not anymore. And we will definitely be popping back in the spring or summer, because it is such a charming place. We want to go back and enjoy the beach and the prom, it is all so lovely.

The weather didn't really want us to have an amazing outdoorsy adventure this week. It was blowing a gale and threatening rain and snow, but luckily I'd spotted somewhere in Leigh-On-Sea that seemed worthy of a visit, a cute little donut place called Los Donuts. So we put the postcode in the satnav and went off adventuring. And it didn't disappoint.

special treats

I love surprising this little pair. Nothing quite compares to the looks on their faces when I have genuinely surprised them with something they love. Sometimes I'll build a den at nap time, or I'll set up their toys before I go to bed so that they can get straight on with playing when they get up in the morning, or I might spontaneously suddenly decide at lunchtime that we are going to go to the bakery for sausage rolls instead of the usual sandwiches at home. I don't do it every day, or even every week, but once in a while; and they always love it.

1

his third birthday

On Friday 7th February 2014
my beautiful little man turned three.
And special days out together
to celebrate being another year older,
are kind of becoming a family tradition for us.
Our beautiful boy had a great one
and we spent the day pinching ourselves
that our first born baby had got so big so quickly.

You had grown up so much since turning a year that it was scary.

a beautiful girl's birthday party

There was never any doubt in my mind
that we would celebrate my beautiful girl's birthday in style.
One whole year on the planet deserves to be celebrated,
and one whole year of bringing up a baby deserves to be acknowledged too.
Our little man had a big first birthday bash
and there was no way I was going to miss the opportunity
to plan an exciting party for our little lady,
and to scream from the rooftops just how proud we are to have her.

hello september

It's here.
The month I've been simultaneously waiting for and dreading.
My baby girl turns one this month.
It just doesn't seem possible.

a beautiful birthday party

On Saturday February 11th
we had a big party to celebrate our beautiful boy turning one.
And I have to say,
it was awesome.
We had a lovely time
and feel thoroughly blessed to have so many wonderful people around us
supporting us as we bring up our son.
