We are so lucky to live in a beautiful little village,

and every May on of our absolute highlights

in the May Day Fayre. 

We love that we can stroll across the bridge from our home

and be right in the thick of the fun.

It's such a lovely, fun

and quintessentially English event

and it always feels like the beginning of our summer.

This year I filmed our day

so that we could share it.

Blogging has given me some fantastic opportunities

as well as some brilliant friends.

On Sunday we had the fantastic opportunity

to spend the day at Legoland

with some of those brilliant friends,

all as a result of being a MAD Blog Award finalist.

We had an amazing day at Legoland Windsor.

I had been unsure how much fun my fairly young children were going to have,

but I needn't have worried.

We spent our day with the gorgeous family behind Mummy Daddy Me,

and we all had so much fun.

With Mads at his side my beautiful boy had a blast,

my beautiful girl and LL loved watching all the hustle and bustle going on,

the hubby got to go on some thrillseeking rides with Mr E,

and Katie and I had a really great natter.

On top of that we got to meet up with some of my favourite blogger friends.
Some who I've met before,

and some of whom I was only meeting for the first time,

but who felt like old friends.

Funny how that happens with blogging...!

I'm so glad I captured our day on video,

it was such a great adventure.

opportunities

Life throws things at you sometimes

and you have to decide whether to catch them

or let them pass you buy.

Blogging has opened up opportunites to me

that I could never have imagined.

I've been to places I wouldn't have thought I'd go to,

reviewed items we have loved,

been in a glossy magazine,

made real life friends,

attended brilliant events,

been nominated for awards

and been in the local newspaper.

And the latest exciting opportunity to come my way

was an interview on BBC Essex radio.

proud

This week has been a nerve-wracking and exciting one.

I have been featured in not one, but two of our local newspapers

for being a finalist in both the MAD Blog Awards and the BiB Awards.

And there is nothing quite like opening a paper

to find a photo of yourself looking right back at you.

It's a very proud feeling

but a sort of embarrassing feeling,

especially when you were expecting a little story in a column

and not half a page.

But I am exceptionally happy and proud of myself.

a lovely kind of week

Well, I guess the best place to start is to say a great big thank-you.

It has been a super exciting week for Dear Beautiful Boy

and I still feel like I'm floating around on a cloud.

So thank-you.

Thank-you each and every person who has voted and nominated Dear Beautiful Boy

in both the Brilliance in Blogging Awards and the MAD Blog Awards.

Because the fantastic news

is that we are finalists in both.

One year ago I was just about getting to grips with being a mummy.

I was spending a lot of time on my iPod trawling the internet,

while I sat at strange times of day and night feeding my beautiful boy.

And somewhere along the line I discovered parent blogs.
