a beach hut birthday {52 adventures}

When you are seaside and beach hut obsessive like me, there isn't really a better way of spending your birthday than enjoying those two things. Add to that the fact that the sun came along to play (which practically never ever happens on my birthday) and you have a recipe for a lovely adventure.

We've booked beach huts for the day before and they really do never disappoint. It's just so lovely to have a little space of your own, to eat your lunch, to hide from cooler spells, to keep all your things safe when you want to run around on the beach, to make drinks and generally hang out. Yet again we had an amazing day enjoying "our" beach hut, and we can't wait until our next little trip later in the summer.

My baby bro and his girlfriend came along on this little adventure with us, which made it an extra special kind of day. The two of them are about to head off on one incredibly epic adventure of their own, as they start a new life in Abu Dhabi this weekend. So it was really special to have some "big brother and sister, little brother and sister" time together before he goes.

To say I'm a bit devastated that he's going is an understatement. I can't even really put into words how gutted I am. He is one of my favourite people on this earth... and probably is the children's favourite of all. I think it goes without saying that we are all going to miss him terribly. But I am also so incredibly excited for him and the amazing opportunities he is grabbing. He would have had a hefty clip round the ear from his big sis if he had turned it down, but it's certainly bitter sweet.

So yes, a birthday in my favourite kind of place, with my favourite people (minus a couple who are off travelling the east coast of America... alright for some!!!) can't really argue with that as a great little adventure.

  2. It looks like you had a lovely Birthday - Happy Birthday Lucy! Sorry your brother is moving BUT it won't be forever. Most people that move to that kind of area return home in a couple of years. Have a lovely weekend x

  3. Glad you had such a wonderful birthday and captured such beautiful memories to hold with you. I really empathise with you, a bit different but my brother left for uni when I was 15 and moved to Thailand after, and now, I've just become an aunt and it's such a blessing, but so difficult being miles apart. I hope you manage to make the most of technology to stay close. x
