the siblings project {april 2018}

I get to sit and write this month's The Siblings Project post at the end of a two weeks with this little trio getting to hang out together every single day. It hasn't been all plain sailing of course, I'd be lying if I said there haven't been squabbles to sort out, but mostly it's been pretty blissful and it's been lovely watching them with their heads together over a box of lego, or snuggled together under a blanket watch a movie.

I feel so aware all of a sudden that their lives as a little three is now on borrowed time, and all being well, they'll have a new sibling to show off by next month's post...! So it's been nice for them to have this time together, and for me to sit back and watch them; to feel proud of the little family that we have made, and look ahead to the changes in the future.

I'm definitely at that point of equal parts excitement and melancholy about all the changes ahead. Of course I don't have any of those worries this time about how I'll share my love (because I know it just grows) and I'm less worried about the impact it will have on them (because as a three they are already well used to waiting their turn when needed and sharing the limelight and attention). But there is still a part of me that is sad to see their days as a three come to an end... three has been so good for us, right from the very start. Change is always difficult, but it isn't overshadowing the excitement I feel about introducing the fourth and final member to the gang. They are all so excited to meet him or her now. And he or she is already the luckiest baby ever to get this lot to look up to.

  5. Your three look as thick as thieves! They're such a sweet trio, and I bet they're excited about the imminent arrival of their baby brother or sister. It's such an exciting event in any family, and I'm sure they'll be helping loads with the baby. Big families rock! I'm linking up for the first time :) Mel
