the siblings project {november}

It feels like lately, every month I sit down to write a little update on this trio, I talk about how the gap between the older two and their baby sister is getting smaller all the time. And this month is no different! This month has seen Quinn go from those fledgling first wobbly steps, to walking more and more, further and further, longer and longer. Dylan and Everly love her walking; they still comment with excitement each and every time they see it as if it's the first time. Not surprisingly Quinny will happily play up to her delighted audience with big smiles and giggles. And her relationship with her older siblings is becoming increasingly playful; she loves nothing better than a splashing contest at bathtime with her sister, and enjoys some ridiculously loud roaring competitions with her big bro.

Dylan and Everly are still the tight unit that they've always been. They love each other so fiercely, and annoy each other just as fiercely. The pair of them and the way they love and challenge one another just makes me so proud to call them mine. Having recently sold our home, talk has turned to how sleeping arrangements will change when we move (namely that everyone can have their own bedrooms) and neither Dylan nor Everly seem very keen on this idea at the moment. Sure, they like the idea of their own spaces to have the way they want, but whenever the discussion comes around to actual sleeping, they both seem to want to still be together. In fact they'd have all three of them in together given the choice. So I guess we'll have to see how that pans out when the time comes. I must confess that I do think the fact that they've shared a space for so long has contributed to their close bond, and part of me will be sad to see the inevitable day when they don't want to share anymore. So I think that as long as they still want to, I will embrace it with open arms. Because heaven knows that when we have 16, 15 and 12 year olds they'll barely tolerate being in the same house together, let alone the same room!

I know people who follow me on Instagram have already seen this second photo, but I wanted to include it anyway. I couldn't resist sharing two photos from two different occasions this month, even though they are similar and were both taken in the same spot. It feels apt that this month's photos are snugly and cosy, because it feels like we've been trying to grab plenty of that. The colder weather make us all far more inclined to stay home and hibernate. And actually it's in those quiet days at home that the true companionship of these three really shines; they can move seamlessly between actively playing together, to existing in companionable silence constantly. I have to say that as much as I love the summer days of sunshine and adventure far more; the cuddles, the pj days, the slower pace, they are all reminding me that there is a beauty to be found in each and every season.

Do pop by my cohosts (Katie, Carie, Keri-Anne and Amber) and see the sibling photos and moments that they are sharing this month too. And you can link yours up at the bottom. Feel free to grab the badge for your posts. And if you're sharing your photos on instagram make sure you use #siblingsproject so that we can find them there too.

  1. Gorgeous snuggle photos of your trio. We've just sold our too and even though the girls have their own room now and will have in the new house, Alice keeps asking if they can go in together. It's very cute and I think we will have to start them having sleepovers in each other's room. X

  3. I love the snuggly cuddle photos of your three precious little angels. They are so happy all the time I know I say it but it is'a tribute to amazing parenting and a loving home that you have created three people that smile so much, laugh so much and love so hard together as a team. You can definitely tell Quinny is in there with their love and affection all the same. Like she has truly always been apart of the team. Gorgeous siblings this month babes. I love the stripy pjs too. Thanks for hosting.

  6. That first photo is so adorable Lucy and it made me smile that they still want to share a room. I used to share with one of my sisters until we were about 8 and 9 and then my parents actually built a wall between us! Such exciting times to come for you all though and I am sure they will be happy in whatever room they choose x

  7. They are all such stunners!! I can imagine how exciting it is for them that Quinn is now walking.
    And amazing on the new house! I cannot wait to read all about it. I am sure there will be plenty of sibling sleepovers happening ;) My girls love to do that every now and again and i find them in one of their beds together or on a makeshift bed of blankets on the floor :)

  16. I love reading your Siblings posts. The photos are beautiful, but it's your accounts of the sibling relationships that I like the most. Having just increased our brood to three, it is so encouraging to read about your children and how they get on together. While my two eldest fight like cat and dog a lot of the time, I am hopeful that they - and the new arrival - will become the best of friends in time. Thank you for sharing.
