Okay, so please excuse me commenting yet again (like I do most months) about how fast time is flying by... but how is it the end of April? That is a third of the year gone, just like that. It's beyond crazy how quickly this year is going.

This month has been a bit of a toughy for us actually. Rich has been really busy with lots of jobs for work and has been away a fair bit. I've also been really busy with freelance jobs and trying to keep a lot of balls in the air. And our weekends have been totally dominated by show rehearsals for the big two kiddos. Add to that the fact we've started weaning the littlest one so have been busy steaming and pureeing in every free minute... It's been a busy one, and we're all a bit shattered if I'm honest. Rich and I both feel like we could do with a quiet week to get caught up on everything, but there's no signs of that happening any time soon... but hey, better to be busy than bored?

So that was us this month. Our photos were a particularly last minute affair, when we suddenly realised that we were running out of opportunities to actually get any photo at all this month. In actual fact, that makes me even more glad that we do The Me and Mine Project each month, because this month when our lives are full of crazy, it gave us an excuse to take time out and pop out for a quick walk together, even if it was late and we were all a bit tired and ready for our dinner. It made me remember to practise what I preach... it really isn't about the picture perfect moment, it's about capturing the moment we are in with the people we love the most.

Make sure you pop by my cohosts' posts this month and see what all their families have been up to. Alex, Jenny, Fritha and Lucy will all have a new family photo to share with you all. And of course, my cohost and bestie Katie will have a new one too... and I for one can't wait to see her latest Me and Mine photos featuring her line up change after the arrival of her little man.

And finally, as I mentioned earlier, it's absolutely made my month to hear that I'm a finalist for Best Baby Blog at the Mad Blog Awards. So if you have a vote going spare, I would be eternally grateful if you sent it my way. You can vote by clicking on the link below.

  1. I love these with the yellow background. Just the other week I drove past a rapeseed field in bloom and thought how lovely it looked and how it would make nice pics haha
My little girl calls them "tagpoles" too and I find it so adorable x

    1. Funnily enough the three kids have been one of the easier parts of this month, it's been all the work commitments that have really made life crazy. And the May calendar looks pretty hectic too. x

    1. It's certainly been a busy one, but there have been some lovely parts. And I'm LOVING getting to use their names after all this time, it makes me wonder why I waited so long to share them. x

  6. Lucy, I could've written the same words... this month has been crazy busy! And I did even worse... my photo was taken 20 minutes ago on our bed before Dave dashed out to a stag do! But do you know what?! I think its my favourite ever!! You are SO right, its about capturing the moment... not having that perfect picture! LOVING having your children's beautiful names everywhere! Its so lovely! Such pretty names!

    1. That's often the way, the photos with little-to-no preparation end up being so informal and natural. And I'm loving sharing their names finally, feels so much more relaxed. x

  7. Love the yellow background! I have a feeling this month will be the one where I drag my family into a field just for photos like these! It sounds like you had a lovely albeit busy month this month, it's gone by at the blink of an eye and this year is just speeding by xx

    1. I think this year is flying by simply because we are so busy. Better busy than bored... but I would like things to slow down every once in a while. x

  8. Gorgeous photo's - who can resist the yellow fields! We went armed with enough hayfever medicine for E to sink a ship! I could also do with one of those catch up weeks as Eddy has been working away a bit too, so tricky but it is so good to take the time to have these photo's. xx

    1. My husband was dosed up on hay fever meds too. And rapeseed doesn't bother me too much, but I did make sure I'd taken my nose spray just to be sure. Always worth it for that backdrop of yellow. x

  9. Oh I love these photos! I really want some pics with a gorgeous yellow field background. Nick has refused as he has hay fever. He should suck it up I say! I can't wait to see you happy place blanket xx

  20. Even for last minute shots they are all very beautiful and show your lovely family as you are now. I'm with you on how the year is flying too by the way xx

  21. What a beautiful selection of family shots and such bright lovely colours too. I would love a family shot with all the yellow but rape seed fields set off my asthma so I'd look like a wheezing heffalump.

  22. SO I'm just catching up on your blog!! I watched your video the other day (had me in floods of tears, thanks for that ;) but I thought you'd slipped up when you said their names! I LOVE that you've announced their names, even though I knew them it sort of felt like a birth announcement for all of them and like others said like I felt a bit more connected? Weird! Clearly I am a big fan of Quinn ;)
It's crazy how Ashlyn looks like a little person now, and because Mabli's not far behind that is even more crazy to me, surely we literally JUST gave birth?!
Congrats on the MAD blog nomination! I'm in great company, hopefully we can meet up! xx

  34. Well. Here I am — a whole week late — better late than never!! Your month sounds like mine Lucy. I had SO much to do — I just got to the point where I couldn't spin plates and juggle balls anymore. Feeling a bit burnt out, I must say.

The rape flowers look so pretty in the background, it's always one of my favourite backdrops. I love yellow — always puts a smile on my face. Lovely pictures as ever but I love this post as you've mentioned all the childrens' names on Me and Mine for the first time!! :)
