my sunshine rainbow girl

I like babies wearing clothes that look like children's clothes... you know what I mean; baby grows, playsuits, simple styles, practical, fun, colourful. Because isn't that what childhood should be all about? They have their whole adult lives to wear "dull". In fact I'll confess that while I'm naturally quite averse to wearing very much colour in my own wardrobe, I relish living vicariously through my children with a riot of colour in their wardrobes. And no more so than with my littlest one.

While as a newborn she wore white and pale colours (because who can resist a tiny baby in white?) ever since she hit about three or four weeks old she's been dressed in all the colours of the rainbow. And a lot of the time quite literally in rainbows. Because I seem to have developed quite the obsession with rainbow and cloud themed clothing when it comes to dressing my littlest lady.

We were so excited to be asked to join the #FrugiFamily of bloggers for so many reasons. Their clothes are gorgeous for a start; fulfilling all my fun, colourful and playful demands for childrens' wear. The clothes are also fantastic quality, made with organic materials and completely ethical processed, and they are so so soft to the touch; something which I really value especially when it's something I'll be dressing a baby in. And also because I saw this dress (the Little Lola Dress) and simply fell in love.

I adore this dress and I adore my girl in it. That big bright rainbow, with two white fluffy clouds, and smiley faced sunshine... they just had her name written all over them. And I love that it's blue; because I'm not a fan of my girls in pink and will go out of my way to avoid it wherever possible, and because blue clothes really bring out the blue of her eyes (which I can't believe are still blue - her sister's had long since changed to brown by now!) I also really like the cut of it, with gently elasticated neckline and cap sleeves making it easy to get on and off without fuss. It's also an a-line shape; which means that while it's definitely a dress this year, I'm pretty sure that next year it will still fit her as more of a tunic type top to wear with leggings or shorts, so it's a product that will last her a while.

I can really see this dress being a staple of her spring and summer wardrobe, because it just looks so adorably cute on her. It's bright, fun, light and comfy; lovely with tights and a cardigan while the weather can still be a bit crisp, and simply perfect for the summer on it's own. And if her big smiles are anything to go by... well then I think she likes it too.

And while I'm talking about Frugi, I wanted to let you know that they actually have an amazing competition running at the moment where you could win a holiday to Cornwall touring in a cool vintage camper van; as well as getting some lovely Frugi outfits and a photoshoot while you're there, and some other goodies too. It honestly sounds like it will be such a fun, memorable trip for whoever wins it, so do check it out and enter here

And finally one of the lovely things about the #FrugiFamily is that there are a few bloggers taking part, with different aged children and different tastes. We're all posting today with our choices from the Spring Summer 2016 collection and sending you around in a little circle to visit each other's posts. I'm sending you to visit Sandra at The Black Pearl Blog, so go check out her choices.

  2. Oh she looks so happy! I love that dress so much on her! She absolutely rocks bright colours doesn't she? Have you seen this outfit - https://www.welovefrugi.com/new/view_all_baby_toddler/ruffle_bum_outfit_white_swiss_dot.htm - I fell in love just before having another browse. I'm terrible! I can't wait to have a little model like this. I never had a DSLR when Bill was dinky, so I'm really excited to practice on my mini lady when she gets here. Bill doesn't tend to stay still for very long these days! xx

    1. What are you doing to me Charlotte? I hadn't spotted that ruffle bum outfit but now I clearly NEED it. Not least as I'll more than likely have a crawler in the summer and I can just see her little bum wriggling in the air in that!
And you are going to LOVE having a little bubba to photograph. It was becoming a mum that gave me the photography bug in the first place and babies are definitely so much easier to play photoshoots with because they don't run away. x
